The pieces in Timidities are created by repurposing text gathered from websites—an erotic amateur fiction site, a BDSM forum, a popular sex advice column. Hannes Bajohr’s sculpted, striking corpus poetry allows his subjects to speak for themselves, while creating additional layers of meaning. Playful yet rigorous, they test the possibilities of digital writing and bring it into focus with an insightful literary gaze.

Author(s) / Translator(s)

Hannes Bajohr, born in Berlin in 1984, studied philosophy, German literature and history in Berlin and New York and received his doctorate with a thesis on Hans Blumenberg’s philosophy of language. In addition to his academic work, he has translated Kenneth Goldsmith and Judith Shklar, among others, from the English and is the author of fiction, essays and digital poetry. In 2022 he was the editor of the Hans Blumenberg and Hans Jonas correspondence.
